I'll bet you in the 10 minutes it's going to take my latest video to render (check it out on youtube later) I can write up a blog post.
My brother Andy once told me that all technology is an extension of ourselves - an augmentation. A shovel is like an arm reached out, with a cupped hand on the end. I think he got this theory from Marshall Mcluhan (sp?), who wrote a book called The Medium is the Massage. Anyway, if technology is an augmentation of ourselves then the computer is an extension of our minds. We have a fascinating world around us, and yet we can sit in one room staring at a computer screen for hours on end. Computers are our minds, and so that means the internet is a network of our minds. It's a brainstorm, if you will. There's a cool quote in the anime film Paprika where the main character says "Don't you think dreams and the Internet are similar? They are both areas where the repressed conscious mind vents. "
Anyway, that video is done rendering now. It's gonna take forever to upload to youtube though, so I think I'll just go to bed.
Peace and love, everybody. Keep blogging.
