My original intention was to write a post about the discussion we had in my Psychology of Love class, but then I got distracted and watched Prussian Sunset videos for an hour, and now I've decided to write about them. Also, I just added the head of Prussian Sunsets, Jeff Loveness, on facebook. I wonder if he'll accept my request.
I like to think that Brown Wig Production's videos are just as funny, and we've been uploading to youtube just as long. So, why do Prussian Sunsets have 1,294 subscribers, and BWP has 50 subscribers? I think I know the answer.
Jeff Loveness and gang are smart dudes. Almost every video they make is a parody or pop culture reference, and they include popular words in their video titles - like "Superman", "Bourne", "Swine Flu", "Twilight", "Facebook", "Harry Potter", and others. Another thing they do well is that they upload videos about once a month or more. This keeps subscribers happy, and gets them coming again and again. I get the impression they promote themselves more than we do. And, of course, their videos are just really funny, without being inappropriate or controversial.
But it's not a competition to get more views. I know Don (head of BWP) just wants to make the best videos we can. And that's what I want most, too. It would be awesome to have 1200 subscribers, though.

I'm at ur blog postin it up.
What a Krista comment...
I get annoyed when people make pop culture or common search tags that are irrelevent, but when they're legitimately in the video, that's a good job at getting known. We haven't uploaded a legit project in like a year or two, just some side videos. That's why nobody comes back to our page. 50 subscribers sure is more than I thought we'd have though.
Yeah, I was expecting to see about 20 subscribers to Brown Wig. We could still do way better than 50, though.
